quite sianned today. badminton was fun though.

finished Tuesdays with Morrie before i realised it was a true story:\ its a nice book(: i shall buy one for myself. hah.

"Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you're ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them too - even when you're in the dark. Even when you're falling."

and many times thats what we lack in friendships - mutual trust. an incessant, but not necessarily unreal, fear that whomever we trust with our secrets, our lives, will betray us and just leave us to fall and die. fear is an intergral part of our lives, weaved into the many folds of the many tales of everyday life.

yet maybe that fear has prevented many potential friendships from blossoming into what could prove to be a lifelong relationship of love and companionship with your 'friend'. because without trust, how can you ever call someone a true friend?

friends are very different from acquaintances. friends = acquaintance + mutual trust. perhaps thats the main difference between the two.

can you trust your friends to be there for you when you die? no, not when you're dead and they visit your grave, but before you die, just when you're facing death, looking death in the eye. can you count on them to be there to help you through those last moments and not shrink away as if you had some contagious disease?

perhaps then, you could call that person a friend.

what a crappy post:\
